She has 20 years experience with Head Start in the areas of child nutrition, food service management and the Child and Adult Food Program. She held the Food and Nutrition Services Director position at Head Start of Greater Dallas. She has directed 100+ employees in day-to-day food service management operations & the Child and Adult Food Program.
Dietrich also volunteered as a dietetic internship preceptor through Head Start of Greater Dallas (HSGD). She instructed 25 dietetic students in the school year 2013-14. This program had an in-kind donation value of $32,000. The preceptor/training program led to the creation of an employee wellness program for 700 Head Start staff. She was encouraged by the HSGD Executive Management team to write a proposal for an employee wellness program. The proposed program cited a $400k savings for the agency over a five year period. In addition, she created and implemented a HSGD child wellness program called “Get a HeadStart on Healthier Lives”. This innovative wellness program promotes healthy eating and exercise for 3,000 preschool children enrolled in the Head Start program. Her innovative approach to wellness has evolved into quality management systems. These quality systems have been instrumental in the organization’s national recognition as a Program of Excellence.
